Planning your trip to Sierra Leone : Climate & What to Wear

Sierra Leone is a tropical country with temperatures averaging around 26°C (85°F)  There are two distinct seasons:  November to April is the dry season and the best holiday weather.  May to October is the wet (rainy) season.

What to Wear

Sierra Leone is a tropical country with high temperatures. Summer wear, casual, lightweight and informal clothing is appropriate for day and evening.  Cotton clothing and light colours are recommended.  For business and official meetings, men can wear a lightweight or tropical suit (ties are not always necessary); women can also utilize- if required, a lightweight suit or equivalent.

For the rainy season, wet-weather apparel is recommended.  A light sweater or jacket might be useful in the evenings during the Harmattan period from November through February.  Don’t forget your beachwear, comfortable walking shoes and sports equipment.
